Artist’s Administrative Assistant

Professional full time artist/painter located in Nashville, TN, seeks part-time administrative assistant to keep the artist organized and relieve her of administrative details. This is a multi-faceted position that involves overseeing different aspects of administration, marketing, research, management, sales, and client-gallery relationships for artwork and one-of-a-kind custom mural wallcoverings.
The ideal candidate must be interested in art and the business of art with a strong desire to learn all aspects of the art world. The Administrative Assistant should have a developed aesthetic and artistic eye, be presentable, personable and above all else, have a positive response to the artist’s work.
Key Aspects of Role:

Independent contractor (1099) responsible for individual taxes, working 6 - 16 hours a week at $25/hour, and running errands using their vehicle

Ability to work remotely (90%) with the ability to assist the artist in the studio or attend occasional in-person meetings at primary location near West End & White Bridge Road as well as on project sites

Participate in team-oriented activities with a collaborative, understanding, and personable boss

Execute a variety of, as well as routine, activities

Play an integral role in supporting the artist on the business of creating fine art and producing a custom

Job Description:
-
Execute administrative work such as answering email inquiries on art and mural wallcovering, inventory management, list management for clients, document set-up for record-keeping, logistics for shipping, and arranging transportation for artwork

Schedule and coordinate wallcovering projects including taking measurements, photos, gathering all information needed for proposed project estimates as well as correspondence & billing connected with wallcovering projects, art sales and art representation

Work with the wallcovering production company and wallpaper hangers through installation

Serve as liaison to galleries, interior designers, and clients

Attend meetings with designers, clients, architects, wallpaper installers, printer and wallpaper manufacturer, graphic artist, website manager, photographers, galleries & design showrooms, take notes, and present clear information about the artist’s work and process & follow-up

Participate in marketing at the direction of a professional marketing firm in addition to coordinating marketing activities with website manager, social media manager, art manager and photographer

Research (online, professional publications, etc.) and conduct phone inquiries
Personal Characteristics, Skills and Areas of Knowledge:

Organized, detail-focused, pro-active, enthusiastic, customer service orientation and a sense of humor

Excellent grammar and writing skills for email replies and other correspondence

Discretion and confidentiality with business matters and clients

Computer Skills: Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)

Mac skills a plus +
